Definition

Symantec Endpoint Security (SES) is the modern brand for the Symantec endpoint platform, replacing the SEP name in current marketing. The cloud-managed SKU is SES Complete, which includes prevention, EDR, application isolation, mobile threat defense, network threat protection, and device control in a single agent. Base SES tiers (Standard, Enterprise) include prevention but not EDR - a distinction that surprises many customers during migration. SES Complete competes with CrowdStrike Falcon, SentinelOne Singularity, and Microsoft Defender for Endpoint at the enterprise scale. Strengths: cross-platform consistency (Windows, Mac, Linux, mobile), platform breadth (one console for endpoint + EDR + mobile + app isolation), large-enterprise operational maturity. Symantec / Broadcom has invested in SES Complete as its strategic endpoint product; new SEPM deployments are rare.
